What are some good acting school ideas?

My husband and i are starting an acting school for kids and teens. What are some good things to teach? We really want to teach these kids not only how to act but how to speak clearly. My sons act in movies and one thing they noticed was that everyone in the shows could not pronounce each word properly but rather would say things very fast. any ideas?

  1. Some ideas would be: grammar pronunciation enunciation posture proper breathing techniques These are some of the first things I learned in acting class.
  2. I think the Reverend Crow gave you some good pointers. These are all things any actor worth his salt should know, at least be aware of. One of my favorite books on acting is by the (former?) vocal coach for the RSC - An Actor Prepares by Cicely Berry. As adults it has tons of info that you should be aware of, though it's advanced for young people that age. I am a firm believer in Shakespeare, even if you are just reading aloud. It trains your mouth to work properly.
  3. there's a book my teacher gave us, The Actors Checklist, it teaches Stanislaski method and everything you need to know.
