Performing Arts? I really want to perform on stage when I am older! I am sixteen years old and sing very well. I sing show tune and theater type song (Ex: Sound Of Music, Grease, Phantom of the Opera, CATS). I have had a passion for singing and performing all of my life and have been taking vocal lessons for about five years. Also, I am in a small acting group and my teacher says I can act very well. I do not really have much of a dance background though : ( . I know that theater is a very competitive field and extremely hard to get into (that is why I will have a back up plan.) However, I still want to major in performing arts in college. I have recently been practicing singing three hours a day and take two hours of acting classes a week. If I started to take dance and a more advance acting class, could I have a chance?

What are some performing arts schools? Is there a website that could help me out? I'm kind of looking for one of those actual school schools that does the regular required basic subjects for students(such as social studies, english, etc.) but has an emphasis on the performing arts (musicians, actresses, dancers, etc.) for serious performers-in-training. I myself mostly act in drama, but I like singing and lyricwriting too. Anywhere, preferably in washington state, but honestly anything you know is fine. I'm just really curious as to see what there is.

What are some good performing arts schools? If anybody reading this has ever seen my other posts, I think you know that I want to be an actress. I'm not even in my freshman year yet, but at this point I really, strongly feel that this is what I want to do for a living. So I was wondering, what are some good performing arts colleges? Aside from Juliard, because, hell, that's practically impossible to get into. I want to start looking into what grades I need to be accepted to different schools. Along with the original question, I was wondering what some good strategies for getting parts are? Hopefully that made sense, I'm a little jittery at the moment so my speech is a liitle off. Basically, what I'm asking is "How do you get cast?" For the mopst part, anyway. I'm most interested in acting, I'm weak when it comes to singing, but I'm otherwise musically inclined. I am a violist and I'm learning drums as well. Any tips, actors and actresses of yahoo? How did you make it to where you are now? Thank you for any answers. -Kayy So I got the reccomendation to look for a school around my area.. I'll just say that I'm about an hour away from New York, by train, and I go there often. I live just about on the border of New York and Connecticut. So.. Yeah. If you can find any semi-local schools, thaht would be very helpful. Thank you, once again. I'll probably add more later.

Who here has begun performing arts classes around the age of 16? I've taken a few acting classes and some piano and voice but not consistently. I want to learn with a local performing arts academy. I don't know if I should convince my parents (or myself) that I should do this. A lot of my new friends that i've made go there, but they have been with the academy for a good number of years. I don't know if it's worth it. By the way, I plan on taking voice, acting, and musical theatre classes. I will also begin dance at another studio.
Can intro into cinema fulfill a visual and performing arts requirement for core college classes? I am trying to get all my core classes out of the way and I have an A89 visual and performing arts requirement lacking. I think it was something I was suppose to have from high school. The intro to cinema will fulfill my literature requirement, and I don't see why it wouldn't work for the A89 class. I know that I need to speak to my adviser, and I plan to, but this seems like a simple question to someone more experienced in college classes than I am. Thanks for the advise and Happy Holiday's!

What would be a good, upbeat, finale song for a performing arts school production? I am the owner of a performing arts school. We are going to have our end of the year performance where we put on a show like the academy awards. To end the show, we need a good, upbeat song that will allow everyone to come onstage. There will be blasts of fireworks and graffitti falling from the ceiling. Does anyone have a suggestion of a fun song that could be played. This is for the teen - adult agegroup.
